Drafter

A Drafter is a person that makes drawings that other people use to build things such as buildings. Their drawings are very specific and show exact measurements. Most drafters use computers to make their drafts. They use software called Computer-Aided Design and Drafting.

  3. The requirements for this job are skills in math, science, and drawing. It is important to know about computers and CADD systems. Teamworking and problems solving skills would also help. You can get training for this job at trade schools, community colleges, and some four year colleges.

    Drafters work in comfortable offices.
    Most drafters only need two years of training.
    A majority of drafters work 40 hour weeks.

    Cons:
    The job of drafting is expected to grow more slowly than the average for all jobs through 2018.
    Drafters sit at computers most of the time.
    The pay is average.
